Hi everyone,
A pleasure to be a member here. I just got my new ride last week, the civic 1.8 SL in black. I have heard so much about Meg and I'm interested in ways I can maintain the gloss and shine in my new ride. I have been reading up a lot in the forum but as a newbie i do have some questions.
1. With a new car, do i start with all the 5 steps? Or can I just wash and maintain for the first few months. I was thinking of washing and then using the Meguiar’s Quik Wax for waxing and Meguiar’s Quik Detailer for maintaining for the first few months. Is that an ok thing to do? If not, advice would be appreciated.
2. I have the turtle wax biodegradable zipwax shampoo which was previous purchased by my other half. Is that good enough shampoo for now or do I need to purchase better quality shampoo.
3. I notice some light swirl in the car. I guess the sales guy must have taken the car to a car wash before delivery to me. What can I use to remove the swirl?
4. When do I start polishing and waxing of this new car?
Sorry for the newbie questions. I'm pretty excited about the new ride and want to take good care of it
Thanks in advance |

Hi hhtoh, welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your new ride, I think Civic in black is stunning when it's detailed.

It depends on what's the condition of your 'new car'. Also it depends on what's your expectation. However, a good wash followed by waxing is mandatory if your intention is to preserve the paint as long as possible. You may choose to use Ultimate Quik Wax after every car wash.

It's always a good practice to finish up whatever you have now before buying more new products to try out.

Meguiar's Scratch-X would be the best bet. Don't forget to purchase the Meguiar's Foam Applicator as well.

It's advisable to wax it as soon as possible where polishing is an optional step. _________________ Zey's Car Detailing Photography Blog |
