i think most of u guys know that my perdana already pass the cure time after re-painted last time...and i've already re-polish my whole car again...but not me, my painter polish it for me. so, i don't know what kind of polish and what's the 'cutting power' and how abrassive the polish he use. but the result is much much better than before.

but still i think need to re-polish again as it still have minor swirls (maybe becos of the polish abrasiveness) , minor scratches and all..not really smooth la.

so, to re-polish...i'm kinda afraid to send to my painter again as i'm not sure what are the polishing pad he use. afraid the pad might be too abrasive as he use RB machine.

and i decided to left the paint work as it is and would like to use non-abrasive polish from Meg that is DC2.

u guys think the DC2 will make a different on my ride ? u think i might notice the different before and after polishing ?

p/s: my car just brought back home from worksyop (change valve seal)..so maybe this Friday i'll wash (maybe with mixture of NXT and Sunlight hehe), clay (if needed), polish/clean with ScratchX (just to see if it can remove some of the minor swirls and scratches), polish with DC2 and 2 coat of NXT Tech wax 2.0

Do a test section.

Remember, it's your expectations and how it looks in your eyes that counts. Unless, of course, if you're going to a concourse, than that's a different story altogether.

I've done quite a survey in KB but yet to find a 'good' detailer. So you're quite on your own there. Unless you happen to be in KB going to Chen Seng and meet the 'taukeh'. He's the only person I know there whose 'into' detailing. Maybe he can help you or steer you in the right direction. Very friendly guy, but unfortunately, also very busy businessman.

Hi all,

Totally newbie here. Im getting confused with washing, waxing (protecting) and maitaining. I thought all are 3 different steps. In this guide, we see that the step washing=maintaining. Any clarifications would be great. Thanks

I would think that 'maintaining' refers more to applying Ultimate Quik Wax or Ultimate Quik Detailer after every wash to maintain the shine and water beading effect.

Hi there hhtoh and welcome to MGMY.

The guide that I've written is just from my PERSONAL views and observations. It could and may differ from one person to another since detailing is a PERSONAL matter and what you should be doing is to gather the available information and blend it to suit your conditions.

You're right to say that maintenance is one of the steps in the 5 STEPS cycle. I may have put down the term wrongly. But to me maintenance can actually be broken down to several more stages/steps and it all would depends on the conditions/situations at that particular time. But generally the stages could be something like below:

Weekly - washing, using QD (Ultimate Quick Detailer), etc.
Bi-Weekly - using a topper like Ultimate Quick Wax after wash
Monthly - deep cleaning and topping up existing wax/sealant after wash
Quarterly - deep cleaning (stripping old wax/sealant), light polishing, waxing, etc. after wash
Yearly - polishing, removing defects, etc.

Personally I would consider all the above (except for the Yearly polishing stage) as maintenance. How frequent or how regular you do it would depends on the conditions of your ride. For example, if you're living in a very contaminated or harsh area like around the heavy factories, you might need to do the deep cleaning and topping up more frequently. Or, on the other hand, if you're living in the country side, where the air is fresh and pollution is almost non-existent, then you might only need to do that quarterly instead of monthly.

So, all in all, to me the maintenance step is the method of which to get the just POLISHED/WAXED conditions to last as long as possible before going through the whole compound/polished/removal of defects again.

Hope this would explain further.

Best of regards.
